Brian Lee Burke

Team leader and employing broker, REALTOR® · Kenna Real Estate Group at Keller Williams DTC (KWDTC)

Brian has worked in Colorado residential real estate since 2002 and spent 25 years in construction before and alongside it, including 13 years as a multifamily construction superintendent. That background is why his pricing work reads the house, not just the comps: the roof, the furnace, the deferred maintenance that becomes a real number in a buyout or a sale.

He founded Divorce Workshops Colorado after watching people in the middle of a divorce make the biggest financial decision of the case, the house, with nobody explaining the math. Some were rushed into selling. Others held on to homes they could not afford. Almost none had a group of professionals willing to answer questions in plain language without the meter running. So he built the room, recruited the panel, and made it free.

He is the author of two books on real estate: The Real Estate Playbook, a consumer guide, and Mastering Real Estate, written with Steve Knupp for agents. He leads the Kenna team, holds the employing-broker license, and is the only REALTOR® on the team; every other team member is a licensed real estate agent.

How Brian works a divorce file

  • Neutral by design. The written valuation goes to both spouses at the same time. Every email copies both. Impasses go to the attorneys.
  • Numbers before feelings. Value, payoff, and what each spouse can carry alone, on paper, before anyone argues about who deserves the house.
  • Honest, including the catch. If keeping the house is a mistake, he says so. If selling now is a mistake, he says that too.
  • Trained substitutes. If Brian is unavailable, a Kenna team member delivers the same approved workshop segment and the same process.

The books: what twenty-plus years of selling Colorado homes taught him

Brian wrote both books the way he runs a listing: plain language, the numbers first, and the catch stated out loud. Both are on Amazon in paperback and Kindle; Mastering Real Estate is also on Audible. They are the standards the Kenna team is trained on, and the reason the divorce workshop exists at all.

The Real Estate Playbook

Everything you need to know about buying and selling a home in today’s market

Written for the person doing it for the first time, or the first time in twenty years: how to read a market instead of a headline, what a pre-approval actually proves, how to price a house so it sells once, what inspections find and what to do about it, negotiating without losing the deal, and the closing table line by line. The chapters on pricing, equity and the mortgage are the same math we use on a divorce file.

  • Who it is for: first-time buyers, sellers, investors, and anyone dividing a house in a divorce.
  • Format: paperback and Kindle (Kindle Unlimited).
  • Author: Brian Lee Burke, REALTOR®, team leader of The Kenna Real Estate Group at Keller Williams DTC.

Mastering Real Estate

Your guide to becoming a top agent and thriving in the industry, with Steve Knupp

A coaching book for real estate agents on building a business that survives a slow market: lead generation that does not depend on a hot year, the daily schedule, listing presentations, pricing conversations, negotiating, and the systems behind a team. It is the playbook the Kenna team is trained on, which is why every agent on this site works a divorce listing the same way: one written number to both spouses, terms in writing, a log of everything.

  • Who it is for: new and experienced agents, team leaders, and clients who want to know how their agent should be working.
  • Format: paperback, Kindle (Kindle Unlimited) and Audible audiobook.
  • Authors: Brian Lee Burke and Steve Knupp.
