About
Why a real estate team built this
Divorce is one of the most disorienting transitions a person can go through. The legal process is unfamiliar, the financial stakes are enormous, and the biggest decision, the house, usually gets made before anyone runs the numbers. We built the workshop, and then this site, to change that.

Our mission
Bring together experienced Colorado professionals, attorneys, financial specialists, mental-health experts, mediators, title and lending professionals and real estate advisors, to give people honest, straightforward answers in one room, in one morning, at no cost. And then put those answers online so nobody has to wait for a Saturday or be seen walking in.
Why we started this
Divorce Workshops Colorado was founded by Brian Lee Burke, team leader of The Kenna Real Estate Group at Keller Williams DTC. In more than two decades of helping Colorado families with real estate, he saw the same pattern: people in the middle of a divorce making enormous financial decisions, often about their single largest asset, without the information they needed. Some were rushed into selling. Others held on to homes they could not afford. Many did not know there were alternatives. Almost none had access to professionals willing to answer questions in plain language without the meter running. So he built the room he wished his clients had walked into years earlier, and opened the doors to anyone who needs it.
How the site stays honest
- Sources on every number. Statutes, court forms, IRS publications, agency lending guides, and the Denver metro’s monthly market report. Numbers are refreshed quarterly and dated.
- Reviewed by the discipline that owns it. Legal, tax, mortgage and financial answers are reviewed by the panel professional in that field at least every six months.
- The catch is always included. Selling costs money. Buyouts double payments. Assumptions take months. We say so.
- Fair housing. We do not discuss schools, crime or neighborhood “safety” anywhere on this site. Equal Housing Opportunity.
- Disclosures. Brokerage, lender relationship, and every presenter’s license and business model. The full disclaimer.
Who should use this site
Anyone considering divorce, already in the process, or recently divorced and rebuilding. You do not need to have filed anything. You do not need to know what you want. You do not even need to be sure divorce is the right path; many readers are still weighing it. Family members trying to help are welcome too. Most of the people asking are women, and the site is written with that in mind, for everyone.
